Join us on this final frontier as we journey through space and time. Our show begins with a haunting melody that explodes into a race through the stars. In the middle movement, the Crusaders will evoke the beautiful imagery of the cosmos. Then, the conclusion will be a wild ride through space.Fabric of Time

Our society is obsessed with time. It seems we are locked in a relentless battle with time. Time flies, time drags, time marches on,
and yet time and tide wait for no man. “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” Our show explores, in three movements, the many aspects of our temporal struggle. Join the Crusaders as they musically narrate the Tyranny of the Clock, Standing Still, & Accelerating the Future.
Stained Glass

Stained glass evokes luminous images of transcendent beauty.
Churches filled with iconic tapestries formed of light while soaring, uplifting and joyful music supports our celebrations ans nourishes the soul.

Our show explores, in three movements, three of humanity's greatest virtues:
Generosity
Compassion
Diligence.

This year the Catasauqua Marching Unit will be doing its competitive field show to the music of Jekyll and Hyde the musical. With the members facing backfield, the show starts with the mysterious "Prologue". Then the pit, with a solo by Anika Croesus, begins the sad ballad of "Lost in the Darkness". Chris Dotterer then takes over with a trumpet solo of the song as the brass members dance with the colorguard and the woodwinds play beautiful backgrounds. As the song ends, it shifts into the song "Façade". The trombones take the melody until the whole band joins in on the chorus. Then listen for the clarinets and saxophones as they play a very difficult lick near the end. The percussion does a great driving ending to this wonderful opener.

The next selection from the musical we will be performing is "Good N' Evil" This is a jazzed-up version and will feature our solid percussion line. This is sure to be an edge of your seat part of the show. It starts with the middle section of the song played in the pit then handed off to the battery. The pit then plays a small part of "Transformation", where the band transforms from "Good" to "Evil." The band then joins in and plays the end of "Good N" Evil."

Our final selection will be "A Dangerous Game." Along with this will be a part of "Confrontation" This year we have grown and the talent is amazing. We hope to put on a pleasing and well performed show. Thank you for all the support from family and friends. And a special thank you to the Nothstein family.Jesus Christ Superstar

The Delone Catholic High School Marching Band is proud to present its year 2000 field show, "A Millennium Celebration." We open with Tapestry of Nations / Chaos wherein we celebrate the diverse cultures and nations of our world, but also acknowledge that the tapestry is a delicate one which can unravel if we are not careful. This powerful opener highlights Jennifer Staub, flue and Michael Hoffman, solo dance. Next we take time out from the chaos and fast pace of our 21st century lives to contemplate our roles in the future well-being of our fragile earth in Beethoven's Piano Sonata #8. Dancer Michael Hoffman is again spotlighted in this quiet interlude. Upon reflection, we realize that alone we can do nothing, but with God, all things are possible. We glorify the awesome power of the Almighty in the joyful Festival Sanctus. In out finale, Stravinsky's Firebird Suite, we celebrate the ultimate victory of peace and love over violence and evil. This moving closer features Kim Schlaline - mellophone; Joe Eichstedt - trumpet, and Katie Wilkes - solo dance.Rainbow Warrior, Images from the Chesapeake

Lebanon Catholic High School proudly presents the 1998 Lebanon Catholic Marching Band under the direction of Scott A. Root. The band consists of fourteen instrumentalists and four color guard members. They are led onto the field by Drum Majors Michael Beazley and Christina Polito and Guard Co-Captains Amanda Batz and Katie Reing.

This year's show is based around the work of Muppets creator Jim Henson. The show opens with the fun and frolic of "The Muppet Show Theme" song. We then slow down the tempo a bit for a lovely interpretation of "The Rainbow Connection" from the "Muppet Movie". Next the band asks the most famous question of all in Jim Henson's shows, "Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street?" After leaving Big Bird and the gang, the band will venture down to "Fraggle Rock" where they will eventually find the other end of the "Rainbow Connection".

The 1998 Lebanon Catholic Marching Band staff includes Mr. Stephen Kelley - Music Arranger, Mr. Chad Kessler and Mr. James Hagen - Percussion Arrangers, Ms. Kristen Gauehan - Color Guard Instructor, and Mrs. Shannon Root - Marching and Music Instructor.

The 1998 Lebanon Catholic Marching hopes you enjoy their show as they perform "A Jim Henson Childhood".Awakenings

The 2001-02 Loyalsock Township Lancer Marching Band Show is entitled "Awakenings." The Show begins with a concert band selection entitled " Morning Star" by David Maslanka. This piece was premiered in 1977 as a celebratory piece for the opening of a new concert hall. There are 32 variations of the opening theme set in varying keys and time signatures. "Morning Star" is about beginnings: the dawning of a new day, the start of a new year.

Our show continues with Vaclav Nelhybel's "Praise to the Lord". This piece draws its thematic material solely from three hymns: "Praise to the Lord", "Now Thank We All Our God", and "Doxology". The composition evokes the splendor of the antiphonal brass choir of the late Renaissance as well as the polythematic architecture of the Baroque fugue. Phrases and themes overlap one another throughout the piece. The work ends in a climatic tutti part by the entire ensemble. In Rhythm

The WHS band is playing an adaptation of the show which features one continuous movement (arranged by Edward Meyers).Cave Paintings: The Discovery of Self-Awareness

Join the Lion Band as we take you on a journey into an ancient cave in France (Chauvet-Pont-d'Arc cave). There you will find amazing paintings of animals, outlines of human hands, and many other marvels depicting some of the earliest indications of human habitation. Discovered in 1994, the cave paintings perhaps indicate the need for early humans to chronicle their lives and surroundings. Perhaps they were religous in nature or could they have come from an inborn need for expression? The Lion Band will take you on a musical and visual journey into these paintings. The first movement entitled "Discovery/The Decent into Darkness" depicts the discovery and the journey into the cave. The second movement depicts the discovery of self in "The Gallery of the Hands". The Lion Band will conclude with "The Hunt" representing man and animal's stuggle for survival.Miss Saigon

Portraits of a Sovereign God

The Old Testament is filled with accounts of God’s amazing power as He displays His sovereignty over the Universe. Besides the act of Creation itself, and the Great Flood, one of the most dramatic displays of power ever recorded in history is the parting of the Red Sea. Still hailed as one of Hollywood’s greatest accomplishments is Cecile B. DeMille’s portrayal of that event in his epic film The Ten Commandments. The exciting soundtrack from this movie is the source of most of the music for this year’s field show. The main story in DeMille’s great film is that of the Exodus, the account when Moses leads the Israelites safely out of Egypt after 400 years of captivity. Soon after leaving Egypt however, the Israelites find themselves being pursued by Pharaoh’s army. Suddenly faced with the Red Sea in front of them and the most powerful army in the world behind them, Moses turns to God for help. God commands Moses to lift his staff, and immediately the waters part, and the entire nation of Israel crosses safely on dry ground. From that moment, the long journey to Mt. Sinai begins. The Golden Eagles use composer Key Poulan’s stunning work, Let There Be Light, and Jay Dawson’s, Awaken the Dawn, to represent this new adventure, culminating in the writing of the Ten Commandments. Please welcome the 2005 Golden Eagles Marching Band, led by senior drum major Joel Derechinsky, as they present Portraits of a Sovereign God.The Coming of the Messiah

The BHS Marching Band is proud to present their 2005 field show, "Breaking Point." Through the music of composers Bella Bartok and Samuel Barber, our show this year explores the feelings and emotions of an individual pushed to the edge.
Our program begins portraying the "Frustration" in dealing with a challenge head on. Through strong dynamic passages we portray the aggression and hostility that demands our reaction. There is no option for backing down.
During our second movement, "Mediation" we explore the moment of decision, as the individual reflects on their course of action. Through abstract musical and visual formations we portray this complex and deep human experience we all face when determining the course of action under intense circumstances.
Finally, the inner struggle concludes as we take action and journey into the "Confrontation". Here we face our fear and confront our challenges head on. Through exciting rhythmic passages we navigate the challenge and overcome our obstacle in a climactic visual and musical display as we pass the "Breaking Point".

Tonight we are proud to present the 1998 edition of the Susquehanna Township High School Marching Band. The band is comprised of 52 playing members, 22 color guard members, and is under the field direction of Drum Majors Harris Boyce, Dana Markovitz, and Josh Bennett.

This year, the band invites you on a voyage on the high seas. The show opens as we board our ship with "THE VOYAGE", featuring Betsy Hahn on mellophone and Mike Lipsett on trumpet. Next we find ourselves "AT SEA", featuring Paul Rothrock on baritone, and the Color Guard. While everyone is enjoying themselves, they are unaware of the oncoming "STORM" which features our percussion sections. After the storm, we present "GOING HOME", beginning with a hymn-like remembrance to those lost at sea featuring Nathan Grumbine on trumpet, and Hillary Benish on alto saxophone. As we recover from the storm, the excitement builds as we prepare to catch "good wind" for our journey home from the sea!

The Band is under the direction of Bill Perbetsky, Assistant Director, Drill Designer and Instructor is Silvia Perbetsky, Assistant Drill Instructor and Music Instructor is Mark Kothe. Color Guard Instructor and Designer is Ron Massey. Head Percussion Instructor and Writer is Steve Filipelli. Sideline Percussion Instructor is Dottie Fitton. Assistant Percussion Instructors are Mark Hoover and Irv Stevenson. Band and Sideline Percussion arrangements are by Bill Perbetsky.

The band would like to thank the Susquehanna Township School District and the Susquehanna Township Music Boosters Association for their continued support for the Marching Band program. We sincerely appreciate all their help in keeping the music "afloat". We would also like to thank clarinetist Dave hunter for his design of our Sailing Vessel. We truly hope you enjoy this evening performance. And now, the Susquehanna Township High School Marching Band.Good evening ladies and gentlemen! Tonight we are proud to present the 1999 edition of the STHS Marching Band! The band is comprised of 54 playing members, 18 color guard members, and is under the field direction of Drum Majors Dana Markovitz, Betsy Hahn, and Flannery Amdahl. We hope you enjoy our 1999 production entitled, "The Castle". Our story begins with the "Overture," which depicts the beginning of a typical day in our mythical village surrounding the castle. In the "Festival" we present a type of "street fair" atmosphere, where the Princess of our village oversees the fun and games being enjoyed by the townspeople. Suddenly the festivities are darkened by an attack on the party and our castle, and the Princess is abducted. In "The Search," as we lament the loss of our Princess, a hero emerges that vows to find the Princess. In the "Finale," our hero indeed finds the Princess, and returns her to the Castle and her people, bringing an exciting and happy ending to our story!

Soloists and featured members in this year's show are: Jason Sharp and Susannah Fisher on trumpets, Ashley Gensel on mellophone, Paul Rothrock on baritone, Eric Deitrick on alto saxophone, Flannery Amdahl on violin, and Dana Markovitz as the Princess.

The band is under the direction of Bill Perbetsky. Assistant Director, Drill Designer and Instructor is Silvia Perbetsky. Assistant Music and Drill Instructor is Mark Kothe. A Night At The Opera

Good evening ladies and gentlemen! Tonight we are proud to present the 2003 edition of the Susquehanna Township High School Marching Band! The band is comprised of 54 instrumentalists, 16 color guard members, and is under the field direction of Drum Majors Bethany Bagley, Ross McGraw, and Nate Kepner.

Our 2003 field show is entitled "A NIGHT AT THE OPERA." The show blends the old with the new to provide our audiences with a fresh look at opera music that is exciting, entertaining, creative and fun for everyone! The inspiration for the program comes from familiar operatic compositions with a "Township twist." We wondered what would happen if these famous composers had to write music for an ensemble that did not exist in their day, and the results are being presented for your enjoyment this evening. We are certain you will never look at opera music the same way again! In scene 1, "CARMEN MEETS THE PHANTOM," featuring Christ Post on mellophone. Scene 2 is a haunting ballad from Madame Butterfly which inspired the composers of the music for the show Les Miserables we like to call "GOODBYE," featuring Ashley Miller on baritone and Alex Bender on trumpet. In scene 3, a famous clown officiates the wedding of Figaro with "HALLELUJAH! FIGARO GOT MARRIED," featuring our percussion and pit sections with exciting visual presentations from our horn line and color guard. In scene 4 we use Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" from their "A Night at the Opera" album as a base for a grand finale of familiar classics we are certain you will enjoy, featuring Alex Bender, Dave Trexler, and Kim Thomas on trumpet, with Bethany Bagley on mellophone. Many recognizable compositions are presented as the composers come together to create a finale for a modern music show. Join us as Mozart, Puccini, Leoncavallo, Verdi, Puccini, Rossini, and Wagner come to the 21st century to share their music with a new audience. WE hope you enjoy your "NIGHT AT THE OPERA!"

The band is under the direction of Bill Perbetsky. Assistant Director, Drill Designer, and Instructor is Silvia Perbetsky. Assistant Drill and Music Instructor is Mark Kothe. Visual Technicians are Mike Supko and Tammy Landis. Head Percussion Instructor and Arranger is Steve Filippelli. Percussion Technicians are Dotty Fitton and Terry Bieler. Their support has allowed us the freedom and resources to continue to grow in our entire music program, and we are very grateful for their support! Sit back, relax, and enjoy our modernized night at the opera! Ladies and gentlemen, the Susquehanna Township High School Marching Band!!
Rendezvous With The Other Side

Our 2004 field show is entitled "Rendezvous With The Other Side," a fusion of classical music with "the other side," which is a reference to another form of a popular music style, with the usual Hanna twist! The show opens with a unique presentation of Borodin's Polovetzian Dances fused with a very familiar favorite everyone will be sure to recognize, featuring Alex Bender on trumpet, and Chris Post on mellophone. Next we present an interesting treatment of Ravel's Bolero we like to call "My Favorite Bolero," featuring Kyle Shrauder on snare drum, Nate Kepner on alto sax, Alex Bender on trumpet, Ashley Miller on baritone, and Chris Post on mellophone. Our show closes with Beethoven and Mozart "letting go" a little bit, experimenting with Latin polyrhythms and the music of Dave Brubeck in a very fun and entertaining piece we have called "Ludwig Mambozart," featuring our percussion sections, Paul Miller on the drum set, and Alex Bender on trumpet. We are certain you will enjoy coming with us to "Rendezvous With The Other Side!"Today Is Yesterday's Tomorrow: A Fusion of Music Past.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen! Tonight we are proud to present the 2007
edition of the Susquehanna Township High School Marching Band! The band is
comprised of 53 musicians, 11 color guard members, and is under the field
direction of Drum Major Andrew Bowling. Our program for 2007 is entitled
"Today Is Yesterday's Tomorrow: A Fusion of Music Past." The show is a
Susquehanna Township-style union of classical music with classic rock that
will be a fun-filled musical and visual journey through some great classics
from both genres. Although we will not divulge the titles of these great
classics, we are certain you will be very familiar with every theme that
makes up the program!

Movement one kicks off our tour using themes from two well-known composers
before the rockers invade the scene, featuring Andy Locke on trumpet,
Kaitlyn Perbetsky on mellophone, and Nestor Carrera on baritone. The second
movement is our tribute to one of the greatest British bands that became
popular in the "new world" as well, featuring Kaitlyn Perbetsky on
mellophone. Next we feature our percussion section with a popular rock
classic that is recognizable to every serious drummer and "guitar hero."
The last movement is a musical and visual explosion of two very popular
classical pieces fused with some timeless rock classics that will take many
unexpected twists and turns along the way. If you don't recognize the music
in the show- where have you been? Due to fire code regulations, no lighters
may be used in recognition of this evening's performance!

The band is directed by Bill Perbetsky. Assistant director and drill
instructor is Silvia Perbetsky. Assistant music director and technician is
Mark Kothe. Assistant drill instructor and marching specialist is Mike
Supko. Drill technicians are Bill Shellhamer and Tom McDonald. Color guard
instructor and designer is Ron Massey. Head percussion instructor and
arranger is Andy Hostetler. Percussion technical assistance is provided by
Brian Miller. Sideline Percussion instructor and arranger is Gus Burghdorf.
Sideline percussion assistance is provided by Sharon Zearfoss. Drill
designer is Silvia Perbetsky, and the band arrangements are by Bill
Perbetsky.

We would like to thank the administration of the Susquehanna Township School
District for their continued support, and especially the STHS Music Boosters
Association for all of their time, effort, and creativity in keeping the
music alive for our kids! We would not do it without you. Sit back, relax,
and take a journey with us as we go "rockin' with the classics." We hope you
enjoy this evening's performance. And now, the Susquehanna Township High
School Marching Band!

This is immediately followed by a rapid plunge into R. E. M., the stage commonly associated with dreams. Driving rhythms and mixed meter speed the mind through the Dream World.

Movement II, “Sweet Dreams,” depicts a restful, pleasant dream occurring while in R. E. M. with peaceful melodic lines and choral style harmonies.

This sweet dream turns sour as we enter Movement III of our show entitled “Nightmares.” Here we experience the uneasiness and fear involved with bad dreams represented by chord clusters, jagged melodies, and whole tone scales. Toward the end of “Nightmares,” the opening theme is restated signifying our ascent out of R. E. M. and the Dream World. The show ends full circle with the same disorientation from the opening as we wake up from our “Dream Cycle.”
The Conewago Valley School District proudly presents the 1998 Marching Colonials under the field direction of Brian Hoffheins and Heather Dewey. This year's band consists of 79 players, two drum majors, 13 silks, 5 runners and a staff of five instructors. Anyone familiar with Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera will enjoy our rendition. Setting the mood of the show is the "Phantom of the Opera Theme". This fast paced opener arranged by Paul Lavender changes tempos throughout building to a climactic conclusion. Moving on to "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" arranged by Jay Bocook changes the mood of the show and hints at love and pain which is mixed together. The opening trumpet duet is played by Katie Mack and Tim Crone. Bringing a festive feeling to the show is "Masquerade" also arranged by Jay Bocook. This selection opens with a whimsical ensemble. This mood is interrupted by a hard paced drum solo written by Brett Schutter which features each section. Call and response rhythms are enhanced by body movement of various sections of the band. This selection finishes with hints from the phantom and things yet to come. The finale of the show features the well known "Music of the Night", arranged by Paul Lavender which ends with the "unveiling" of the Phantom and a final kiss.

The show was written and designed by Marching Show Concepts. The marching staff include Director RoxAnne Martin, Assistant Director Paul Donnelly, Visual Coordinator Holly Plank, Percussion Instructor Brett Schutter, and marching aide Jen LaMonica.

The Four Elements

The Donegal High School Marching Band is proud to welcome you to a performance of its 2009
production, The Four Elements. The show illustrates the four substances-Fire, Earth, Water, Airthat

(Symphony No. 2), by Robert W. Smith.
The Staff of the East Pennsboro High School Music Department and the Members of the 1998 Panther Marching Band are proud to present our 1998 field show. We hope you enjoy this performance, and we invite you to attend all of the other many diverse offerings of our Music Department during this school year.

Our Field Show this year focuses on the music of Antonin Dvorak. In 1893, this Czech composer made his first trip to the United States from his native Bohemia. His journey through our country moved him to compose his ninth Symphony, which he then titled "From the New World". Dvorak was taken with the many forms of American folk music, as he found them strongly reminiscent of the fresh, sprited folk melodies of his homeland.

All sections of the ensemble are featured in this fine arrangement. The Panthers are led on the field this year by drum major Amanda Calik.

We hope you enjoy this year's field-show presentation.

Abram’s Pursuit

The music of this year’s 2003 field show depicts the emotions of human interaction. Conflict, separation, and reunification are depicted tonally, melodically, and visually in the sequence of compositions. The colors and movements of our Guard will further reflect and enhance this theme.
We begin with an excerpt from Samuel Barber’s setting of “The Prayers of Kierkegaard”. The music of David Holsinger comprises the rest of the show, centering on his driving and powerful work “Abram’s Pursuit ”, punctuated with his moving, melodic chorale “On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss”. A strong reprise of “Abram’s Pursuit ” concludes the presentation.
Our Drum Major is Candice Neff. Featured performers include Will Malan on Flugelhorn, Carrie Hargraves on Alto Sax, Erik Johnsonbaugh on Tenor Sax, and Joe Patno on Baritone.
The band members and staff hope that you enjoy this evening’s show, and invite you to attend the many other offerings of our music department during this school year.

The show closes with the fourth movement from “For the Beauty of the Earth” by John Barry. All arrangements were done by Dan Lutz w/ percussion arrangements by Jim Weaver and Brian Stockard.
A Russian Winter "Symphony No. 1, Winter Reveries" by Peter I. Tchaikovsky "Journey Through The Snow" from "The Nutcracker" by Peter I. Tchaikovsky "Russian Christmas Music" by Alfred ReedRussia's Heartland
"Hymn for Red October" by Basil Poledouris
"Meadowlands" by Lev Knipper
"Fire of Eternal Glory" by Dmitri Shostokovich
"Symphony No. 1" by Peter I. Tchaikovsky

Once again, the Nazareth Area Blue Eagle Marching Band turns to Russia for the inspiration of their 2000 repertoire. In the past, we've explored music that was inspired by Russian holidays and the frigid Russian Winters. This year, we will explore the very soul of Russia with melodies that conjur up images both nationalistic and picturesque.

Aptly titled "Russia's Heartland," we open our show with the strains of "Hymn for Red October," written by Basil Poledouris for the 1990 movie "Hunt for Red October." The "Hymn," heavily laden with "Russian flavor," begins dark and brooding then culminates into a powerful opening statement.

We quickly move into "Meadowlands" also known as "Calvary on the Steppes" from the 1933 composition "Symphony #4, Opus 41, Poem about the Komsomol Soldier" by Lev Konstantinovich Knipper. Knipper's work is very militaristic, a result of serving in the Armed Forces for 5 years, and he dedicated many of his important works to the military. Like most contemporary Soviet composers, Knipper spent a period of time studying musical folklore and wrote down more than 150 songs of the mountainous regions of Tadjikistan. Some of these folk themes are utilized in his symphonic works.

"Novorossiisk Chimes" or "Fire of Eternal Glory" by Dmitri Shostokovich was written in 1960 for the city of Novorossick's war memorial. This is what Shostakovich said about it: "The defenders of Novorossisk covered themselves with glory during the Great Patriotic War (WWII) and I was honoured to compose music for the Fire of Eternal Glory burning at the memorial in Heroes Square. The music is at first heroic, with a tinge of sorrow, but gradually becomes elated and loses its dark colouring." The piece is played by a recording every hour by the clock over the Fire of Eternal Glory in Novorossiisk Heroes Square. Shostakovich said "I came here to listen to the chimes many times and each time experienced an inner thrill at seeing people pass by, stop at the moment the clock played the chimes, and gaze in silence at the Fire of Eternal Glory, the memorial to the city's defenders. I was overjoyed to see the impression my music exerted."

"Symphony #1" by Peter Tchaikovsky is a extension of last year's dynamic opener. In 1999, our arrangement encompassed Tchaikovsky's fourth movement from the Symphony. This year, we explore the first movement, which Tchaikovsky himself subtitiled "Reveries of a Winter Journey." Tchaikovsky's work has always been "distinctly Russian." There's no mistaking the influence of Russian folk tunes, and in Symphony #1 the theme of the first movement is of a Russian folk-like nature. The triumphant conclusion of the show is powerful and explosive.Music from "Jekyll and Hyde"

Shades of Spring

This year's show is a colorful journey through the many phases of Spring. We open with the Stormy weather often found at the begining of the season. The show next moves to the excitement of the First Flowers springing through the surface of the soil. Our Ballad, entitled Make our Garden Grow gives us time to reflect on the beauty of spring. We close the show with all of the excitement of late Spring; and anxiously await the arrival of summer.Voyage on the Black Sea

The show begins as another day is dawning on the Black Sea with the dark and mysterious Hymn from The Hunt for the Red October. It immediately goes into the lively Heroic Dance of the Coolie’s from Gliere’s Red Poppy Ballet Suite. The next piece is Shostakovich’s Fire of Eternal Glory, which was written in honor of Russian causalities suffered during World War II. The show closes with another popular piece from Gliere’s Red Poppy Ballet Suite, Russian Sailor’s Dance. The piece begins at a fast tempo then suddenly slows down. As the sailor’s become more energetic, the piece builds with momentum and ends vigorously.

In its brief history, the Urbana High School Band has earned every honor and accolade for all areas of its comprehensive program. Urbana High School is particularly proud of the "Mighty Hawks" Marching Band, characterized by excellence and excitement.

The music for "CHICAGO-1930" is adapted from THE UNTOUCHABLES soundtrack written by Ennio Morricone. The music depicts the turbulent prohibition era in Chicago. It was the age of Al Capone, when the streets were ruled with hand grenages and tommy guns. Only Elliot Ness and his elite group of agents had the courage and ingenuity to tear down the network of the Mob. Only Ness could find a way to put Al Capone in prison.

The "CHICAGO-1930" selections being performed by The Urbana "Mighty Hawks" Band are in the following order:

The heavy swing sounds of The Untouchables Theme. The high energy Rooftop Chase, which integrates The Untouchables Theme. Ness and His Family reflects on the calm home life that nightly awaits him. The Al Capone Theme in which the band forms a picture of a pistol. The fast-paced Victorious depicts the joy of the FBI agents' first major sting. The Drum Feature presents the Rooftop Chase motif in a Fugue Four Friends portrays Ness' sadness after his friends have died in the line of duty The Closing Theme which represents Ness' victory over Al Capone.

The 1998 Urbana "Mighty Hawks" Marching Band is under the field direction of Anna Hermanson and Annie Hourigan and led by a comprehensive network of student leaders. Prepare for the excitement as Urbana High School presents "CHICAGO-1930"!The Who's Tommy

A Tour of the Isles

The Urbana “Mighty Hawks” Marching Band invites you on a journey to the “days of old” on the Celtic Isles.  The musical journey begins in the midst of a fierce battle unfolding into the heralding sounds of the victor’s trumpets.  Witness the English celebration in the piece entitled Wilson’s Wilde. The second part follows the defeated Scottish to their homeland with the ballad Mo Gheli Mear, or Our Hero.  This ballad celebrates the safe return of the Scottish Hero and transitions into a celebration gigue performed by the woodwinds.  The show comes to a conclusion with both the English and Scottish themes returning simultaneously in celebration of not only victory, but the return of heroes from both sides.

The Hawks have received numerous honors and awards and continue the tradition of pride, excitement, and uniqueness in this year’s show.

This year’s staff is composed of:

Through the Doors of Narnia

The 2001 Urbana "Mighty Hawks" Marching Band invite you to join them as they pass through the wardrobe doors into the fantasy land of Narnia. Created by author C.S. Lewis in the book series The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Narnia is a land inhabited by mythical creatures, talking animals and their Lion King Aslan and the evil Snow Witch. This adventure is set to the music from Geoffrey Burgon’s Narnia Suite©. The journey begins through the doors with the introduction of theme of the Lion King Aslan. They will then embark on the ship the Dawn Treader and be trapped in a fierce storm. Tragedy strikes the Land of Narnia when their Lion King Aslan is lost. This loss creates the great battle of good versus evil. When all seems lost, the triumphant return of the Lion King brings victory to the good creatures in the land of Narnia.Jekyll & Hyde

It is the working man who is the happy man. It is the idle man who is the miserable man. -Benjamin Franklin

The raucous ringing of the alarm clock awakens us abruptly from our dreams, as the morning hour dawns. We busy ourselves with the tasks of work, longing for the brief relaxation of the lunch hour, returning reluctantly to our employment. But even when the working day is through, we find no relief, for the commute home becomes chaos as rush hour ushers us home.
For the 1999 marching band season, our show features the music of Pat Methany including "See the World", "Cathedral in a Suitcase", and "First Circle".Firebird

SOAR "2000"

"Soar the Untamed Spirit", a very powerful and emotional work by Roland Barrett, earned the concert band much acclaim last spring.  Putting this piece of changing meter, style, articulation, and tempo on the competition field has proved an exciting challenge to the marching band.  Written in three major sections, SOAR lifts off with a flourish of sight and sound.  Then, gliding on wings of low brass, it drifts into a smooth, beautiful choral section. Propelled along by a driving tempo and powerful percussion, the piece soars into an exhilarating finale.  This show allows you to experience the freedom of soaring on the untamed spirit of life as we continually reach higher into the heavens.

The "Golden Tornado" Band has been a proud representative of the community of Keyser and of Keyser High School for many years.  Its high level of musicality has been recognized and rewarded in all areas of performance at the many festivals and contests attended over the past twenty-eight years.

We thank you for your continued support of the music programs at Keyser High School and hope that you leave our show with a great appreciation of this magnificent presentation of:

It is with great pride that the Northern High School Marching Band under the field direction of Drum Majors Abby Mahone and Jessi Ann Bowersox, present the 1998 Field Show Production.

The Ensemble opens with scenes from Melillo's "STORMQUEST" as the quiet of early morning is interrupted by ominous introductory solos. The imagery of the impending storm is represented by sound and visual effect as the intensity grows in a musical crescendo, punctuated by brilliant flashes of lightning and the distant echo of thunder.

This prelude segues into the heart of the violent storm. Through the creative orchestration of the battery and front ensemble, this intense percussion feature dramatically portrays the raw power of the gale and force of the elements. With the storm's passing, a quiet calm and retrospective rain persists, offering a musical respite. This peaceful Ballad, "Miranda", features a melodic trombone solo, beautiful harmonies and colorful timbres.

The storm fades to a memory as the ensemble performs the dramatic Melillo excerpt, "Into The Light Of Day". The clouds part and the sun re-appears, a majestic conclusion to nature's cycle.

The Northern High School Marching Band is directed by R. Douglas Riley.

Staff Includes:

The musical score was arranged for Northern Band by Jim Neidinger with percussion arrangements by Kevin Murphy and Brian Gochenour.
Drill designer fro the Northern Band is Duane Dewire.

On behalf of the band members and staff, we wish to thank parents, administration, community and friends of the Northern Band for their continued support. We sincerely hope that you enjoy our presentation. It is with great pride that the Northern High School Marching Band, under the field direction of Drum Majors Laura Skaikowski, Katie Cleary and Tim Morgan, present their 1999 Field Show Production.

The Ensemble opens with Ron Nelson's "Lauds (Praise High Day)", the morning prayer of the canonical hours, praising the promise of a glorious day. The vibrant metric rhythms of woodwinds and percussion, interwoven with powerful brass statements, evoke images of a wondrous daybreak. The sunrise is represented by colorful sound and visual imagery as the rhythms grow more complex, the sun rising higher in the morning sky until its light fully illuminates the scene below.

The dawn of the new day reveals the magnificent presence of a medieval cathedral.

The dawn of the new day reveals the magnificent presence of a medieval cathedral. Jan Van der Roost pays homage to the historical Canterbury edifice in his devotional ballad, "Canterbury Chorale". Featuring a brass soli and trumpet solo, the Chorale encompasses a variety of timbres, dynamic contrasts and elegant visual effects. The band depicts in music and choreography the reverence and awe inspired by this sacred and ancient church.

The majesty of sunset, as reflected through the stained glass windows of the ancient cathedral, is presented in scenes from Respighi's epic "Church Windows". The stentorian theme is a valid transformation of archaic medieval chant, representing the colors of churchly glass transmuted into the colors of music.

"Lauds" symbolically returns ina triumphant fanfare, reflecting celebration and praise with a compelling finale of percussion, ensemble winds, and guard in an inspiring conclusion.

The Northern High School Marching Band is directed by R. Douglas Riley. The staff includes: Assistant Director Clair Zeiders; Drill Instructors Bill Welch, Christine Brophy and Shelly Mickey; Guard Instructor Kim Corle; Brass Instructors R. L. Fyler, Dave hamlet, Nathan Young and Lynn Keefer; Woodwind Instructors Mike Ryan and Sheri Henry; Batter Percussion Instructors Andy Hostetler, Andrew Moyer, Tom Hostetler, Jim Bedorf and Deb Werth; Pit Percussion Instructor Brian Gochenour.

Atlantis: The Lost City

Our story is a three movement production that depicts the legend of Atlantis through soaring musical phrases and flowing visual imagery. Movement 1, The Heart of Atlantis, depicts a bird’s eye view of the great city of Atlantis, utilizing concentric circles and glistening silver walls. Our Herald Trumpets welcome the audience into an atmosphere much ahead of its time.

Vast waterways, modern technology and architecture, and sheer beauty are the musical and visual foundations of Movement 2, The Beauty of Atlantis. We continue to explore the circular development of Atlantis through musical and visual impact.

Our 3rd movement, The Destruction of Atlantis, depicts the culminating event for the city. Sparked by an earthquake tremor, a massive tidal wave descends upon and destroys Atlantis, sending its structures into the depths of the sea. All that remains is a legend of a Lost City.

Carmina Burana

Composed by: Carl Orff
"This year's field show, entitled Carmina Burana, was inspired by a 13th century manuscript of 250 poems taken from a Benadictine Abbey in South Germany in 1803. The first movement, "O Fortuna", in an exultant song in praise of fortune and gives the voice to the fickleness of fate and fortune. The second movement, "Tanz", is a selection pertaining to dance. The third movement, "In Trutina" (In the Balence), is set to the wavering balence of feelings pitted against each other. The fourth movement, "Ecce Gratum" (Behold the Pleasant Spring), is a song dedicated to the joyfulness and renewal of springtime and the end of sadness. The fifth and final movement, "Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi" (Fortune, Empress of the World), is a stoic litany to Lady Luck. "Carmina Burana" is a valuable look into our mischevous past and perhaps a looking glass for our own time"

The 1998 Shikellamy Marching Braves continue a tradition of presenting exciting, innovative and challenging programs. This year the band will explore a trilogy of liturgical choral music by contemporary composer John Rutter.

The Magnificat begins with a majestic fanfare. An interplay of a variety of voices provides joyful melodies depicting singing, dancing and outdoor celebration. It includes a fascinating percussion feature that utilizes polyrhythms. The color guard interpretations are beautiful throughout the piece. Requiem, in striking contrast, is a soft and introspective meditation on the themes of life and death, with a prayer for all humanity. Gloria is a vigorously rhythmic selection with unusual and unexpected metric changes. It allows the opportunity to display dazzling drill and fiery guard work, propelling itself to a higher velocity, jubilant finale. Truly a joyful noise.

The Marching Braves are led on the field by Drum Major Ryan Snyder, Visual Ensemble Captains are Billie Jo Smith and Lindsey Heintzelman.

The director of the Shikellamy Marching Braves is Scott Carey. The assistant director is Ted DiCola. The musical arranger is Ralph Lehman.

Show design is by Duane DeWire. His assistants are Jude Boughton and John Fisher. The visual instructors are Kim Carey and Jennifer Donmoyer.

Percussion arrangers and instructors are Patsy VanKirk, Mike Ferlazzo and James Hagan. Their assistants are Bill Groves and Kyle Wolfe.

Music and marching instructors are Buddy Palko, Ingrid Howard, Matt wagner and Eric Shaffer.

Skikellamy has won the Cavalcade of Bands American Class Championship in 1976 and 1977, the Liberty Class Championship in 1979 and the Yankee Class Championship in 1985 and 1991. Most recently, the Marchign Braves have won the CMBC Championships in 1992 and 1993.

In past years the Marching Braves have entertained audiences in the Orange Bowl and the Fiesta Bowl parades. They have performed all over the United States and in Carnegie Hall. In addition, they have performed half-time shows at the Eagles, Giants, and Redskins NFL football games.

The success of our organization is achieved by the teamwork, commitment and dedication of the young men and women standing on the field before you. We would like thank the parents, school administration, faculty and surrounding communities for their generous support.

The Shikellamy Marching Braves continue a tradition of presenting exciting, innovative and challenging programs. They will be performing "The Witch and The Saint" by Steven Reineke. A piece about a set of twins born in Germany around 1588. At that time, twins were considered a bad omen, therefore the twins were separated at birth into different homes. One was sent to a convent, the other stayed with her natural parents. Both girls could predict future events. The sister who lived with the nuns predicted good events, known as the saint, and the sister who lived with her natural parents predicted bad events, hence she was considered a witch. The band portrays this tail performing music that represents each sister, as well as the struggles they went through including the towns people chasing the witch out of town into the forestNew York State of Mind

The Marching Braves would like to extend an invitation for you to join them as they present a day in Manhattan through Samuel Hazo’s “Sevens” and Robert Sheldon’s “Metroplex.”

We begin with a glorious sunrise as the city takes on a life of it’s own. As the day progresses, you will experience the people, traffic, street performers and city life that is Manhattan. We will take you to an inner city jazz club where you can experience the blues through saxophone soloist Olivia Fladmark and Andrew Balonis. Music found in any jazz club throughout Manhattan. After our night out on the town, you will experience a wild taxi ride, taking you home as the sun rises again for another day.

Stephen Melinno has written this epic work as musical tribute to Erich Wolfgang Korngold. Born in Brno, a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1897, Korngold ventured to Hollywood where he gave so much of himself. He died in 1957. Eric was a child prodigy who, at the age of ten, impressed Gustav Mahler as a musical genius. A trip to the video store to rent "The Seahawk" or "King's Row", or "Robin Hood" will illustrate Erich's musical brillance.

Sounds of Sousa

This year’s 2007-2008 marching show, “Sounds of Sousa,” is dedicated to the thousands of American men and women actively serving in harms way to preserve our civil liberties and the American way of life. We also honor those who have stood beside us, defending freedom and democracy, and left this world in our friendship, leaving behind a legacy of honor, dedication, and selfless sacrifice.

2007 marks the 75th anniversary of the passing of another great American and patriot; John Philip Sousa. The Arundel High School Wildcats Marching Band has chosen to honor his memorable life and compositions as they reflect all that is fitting and honorable about our United States Armed Forces. Please join our marching Wildcats as we travel through time from an era when these traditional musical emblems of hymns and songs personified the bravest of military institutions as only Sousa could create and revel in the joy that we share today as we revisit these beloved and familiar songs of triumph and perseverance in the face of uncertainty. We are proud to present “Sounds of Sousa,” a musical tribute to John Philip Sousa: Traditions of Excellence, Service, National fervor, and Pride in what makes our country and those within it great.

The American Voice

The Musselman High School Marching Applemen proudly present a tribute to the men, women, and veterans of the first one hundred years of the United States of America.

The show opens with Ployhar's arrangement of Yankee Doodle, followed by Hennings arrangement of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, an arrangement of Dixie/Battle Hymn, and concluding with Mairs' arrangement of Taps and God Bless America.

The show incorporates authentic flags from the period of 1776-1863. All past U.S. flags are referred to by their period or given name and are considered inactive (in regards to handling). There is no current U.S. flag being used in the presentation.

The Marching Applemen, from Inwood, West Virginia, are comprised of 51 winds and percussion, 14 guard members, 3 field commanders, and 6 field managers. This years program is under the field direction of Field Commanders Tracey Jordan and Tiffany Renner and assistant field commander Rachel Rhinehart.

The Marching Wildcats' continue their tradition of performing symphonic music based on folk dances, with their 2001 show entitled, "Four Scottish Dances" featuring the music of British composer, Malcolm Arnold. The composition is based on three original melodies composed in Scottish style and one written by the beloved Scottish poet, Robert Brown. The movements are entitled: "Strathspey," "Reel," "Hebridean Song," and "Fling."

The show opens with a solo drummer rallying the members of the band accompanied by a few lines from "Scotland the Brave," which leads into the first dance, "Strathspey." This slow dance is followed immediately by very lively "Reel" in which the theme is traded back and forth between the woodwinds and brass. This movement also features trumpet soloist, Mat Vance, and our tuba section, Caroline Servinsky, Eric Schriver, Ammon Wagner, and Luke Southerton. After a brief pause, we are treated to a musical impression of the sea and a calm, summer's day on the Hebrides Islands as we listen to "Hebridean Song." The song is introduced by mellophone soloist, Ashley Cooper. The music ebbs and flows with dynamic and textural changes until it drifts away into the last, soft chord. A percussion feature highlights the various sections of the battery and a trumpet duet by Mat Vance and Mike Jones followed by a battle between the woodwinds and brasses. All forces combine to whirl to an exciting end.Borodin - Composer to the Czars

The Marching Wildcats' 2002 Show features the music of Russian Composer, Alexander Borodin. Borodin's music is traditional European Russian tinged with the exotic sounds of the Orient -- the eastern reaches of the Russian Empire. Borodin was proud of Russia's rich and diverse cultural heritage.

The show opens with a movement from Borodin's Symphony No. 2. The music gives the impression of feasting and revelry in the courts of the Tartar warriors. For a moment, we depart the feast and travel to the Russian Steppe, the vast, seemingly endless flat grasslands in Central Asia. Borodin gives us a musical impression of a Russian caravan as it crosses the Steppe carrying tea and silk from the East. We hear the soft, gently undulating song of the Asian caravan drivers mingling with the stately melodies of the Russian soldiers as they make their way along the ancient Silk Roads. This movement was actually written for a celebration to honor Czar Alexander II. Following two percussion features, we return to the symphony and the sounds of the feast as the show moves quickly to its finale.

The Wild Things

This year’s show, entitled “The Wild Things” is based off the literary children’s classic “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak. His mother sends Max, who makes mischief of one kind or another, to his room without eating anything. As the night progresses, Max’s room turns into a forest and he finds himself on a long voyage across a mysterious ocean to the Land of the Wild Things where he fulfills his destiny as King of all wild things. After a wild rumpus, declared by the king, Max finds himself missing home, and very hungry. Despite the begging and pleading from his wild thing subjects, Max returns to his boat and sails home, where he finds his supper waiting for him, and it’s still hot.A Day in the Life of the Sun

The Prestige

Every great magic trick consists of three acts. The first act is called "The Pledge"; the magician shows you something ordinary, but of course...it probably isn't. The second act is called "The Turn"; the magician makes his ordinary something do something extraordinary. Now if you're looking for the secret...you won't find it, that's why there's a third act called, "The Prestige"; this is the part with the twists and turns, where lives hang in the balance, and you see something shocking you've never seen before.

Walking under ladders, broken mirrors, 4-leaf clovers, lucky horse-shoes… the 2007 Field Show production of the Fabulous Marching Cavaliers centers around the notion of superstition. In the introductory movement the group is “just asking for it” when they commit a series of blunders to those who believe in the Superstition of broken mirrors, walking under ladders, and the number 13. In the second movement, they reap what they sow when things break down in a series of Unfortunate Events. They get a Change of Luck in the third movement as they come across signs of good luck, and they are rewarded with Fortunate Events in the final movement as they set to right what went wrong!

"Dear One" from Kiss of the Spider Woman begins with a haunting melody passing from low brass to upper woodwinds, mid-voices and finally, the trumpets. The Odyssey

Homer’s epic poem, The Odyssey, tells the tale of Odysseus, a Greek warrior, and his journey home to Ithaca after the Trojan War. Cursed by Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea, Odysseus encounters several trials and obstacles on his twenty-year journey home. Facing Cyclops, Circe, the Sirens, Cicones, and several other mythological characters, Odysseus loses most of his men. However, he does not lose hope of returning to Ithaca and to his beloved wife, Penelope. Even upon his return, he is faced with battle. He must fight suitors which are attempting to wed Penelope in his absence. In the end, Odysseus is finally reunited with Penelope.

Based on the music of progressive metal band Symphony X, The Odyssey is a one movement musical adventure. Sit back and enjoy as the Kent Island High School Marching Band takes you on the musical journey of The Odyssey.

The Music of Superman

Based on composer John Ottman’s score from the recent 2006 film "Superman Returns", our production features five movements that take us on a journey with this celebrated Superhero.

Soaring far in the distance, a majestic and haunting fanfare will entrance you as we escape from the dying homeworld and hurl through the stars during our introduction, "Krypton".

Next, make sure to strap in and hold on as we take a wild and turbulent ride alongside the boy hero as he suddenly discovers the powers of flight in "Rough Flight".

The slow melodic strains in the ballad "How Could You Leave Us?" pour of passion and yearning as our hero learns that being immortal means never having his true love.

After featuring the symphonic sound of the hornline, the bombastic production "Kryptonite" follows the battle scarred percussion section as chaotic rhythms and smooth grooves get you up out of the seat.

Finally, while bringing you full circle with familiar themes and melodies, the final movement "Triumph!" victoriously achieves our Superhero’s mission that Good prevails over Evil.

This season the Hurricane Marching Band highlights some of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s most well known classics. Schuylkill Haven begins their tribute to the musical mastermind with a medley from Jesus Christ Superstar, one of Webber’s earliest works. We continue on to Academy, Golden Globe, Grammy and Tony award winning music from Evita. This medley includes "Don’t Cry for me Argentina" made famous when Madonna played the role of Eva Peron opposite of Antonio Banderas. We close our show with one of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s most recognizable themes, Phantom of the Opera.
Simple Gifts

The Band's 2003 Program, entitled "Simple Gifts," opens with Aaron Copland's symphonic work "Appalachian Spring." Following the opener is Francesco Sartori's beautiful Italian ballad "Conte Partiro," made popular several years ago by the vocalist Andrea Bocelli under the English translation "Time to Say Goodbye." Just Push Play

This year the Greenbrier East High School Marching Band continues the exploration of Rock Music in a modern marching setting. While many bands have played rock music on the field (i.e. college bands and "show" bands), we are trying to present the genre in a new and interesting way that challenges our students, entertains fans, and makes full use of our abilities as a marching musical ensemble.

The 2005 show entitled "Just Push Play" features the music of Aerosmith. Steven Tyler & company have been rockin' now for three and a half decades. Their longevity has created a huge fan base from baby boomers to todays teens. Over the lifetime of the band, they have explored various styles of music which we will highlite in our performance. From the urban hip hop beats of "Just Push Play" we will continue with the culturally influenced "Taste of India". We will then crank it up with the hard rockin' "Eat the Rich". The finale begins with the soulful power ballad "Cryin'" and concludes with a high energy chorus of the classic hit "Dream On".

We've got a great show put together for you, the only question remains: "ARE YOU READY TO ROCK??!!!"
